Dogwood berries are great for making homemade tinctures. Fruits add amazing taste and aroma to the drink. For cooking, use fresh, frozen or dried berries. About how to prepare fruit tincture with vodka, moonshine or alcohol, read further in the review.
Selection and preparation of ingredients
Regardless of the recipe, the picked berries are sorted, removed damaged or moldy. Be sure to thoroughly rinse under running water and lay it on a sieve. After the water drains, you can start cooking.
The second essential ingredient of the drink is alcohol. To get a product of excellent quality that can be served to gourmets, you need to carefully approach the choice of this ingredient. Preference, of course, should be given to cognac, even inexpensive. You can use vodka or other alcoholic drinks, even beer or moonshine. But they lose cognac liquors because of a specific smell.
Did you know? Bitter tinctures are served with spicy and salty dishes. Such drinks cannot be combined with poultry, veal or fish, as their spicy aroma obscures the taste of the main dishes.
Dogwood tincture recipes
Tinctures vary in strength. Bitter are usually made strong (35–40%). Their base is vodka or pure alcohol. Most plant-based liquors are recommended to be made on a water-alcohol mixture with a final strength of about 25-30%. If the main component is vodka, then you can reduce the strength of the drink by adding juice. The natural taste of the fruit gives the drink a pleasant sour taste.

Features of storage of blanks
Alcohol is a preservative, therefore alcoholic beverages based on it are stored well.
Basic storage requirements:
- tight cover (tinctures easily absorb third-party odors);
- lack of access to sunlight (under their influence, tinctures become cloudy and the breakdown of vitamins begins);
- room temperature - not higher than + 20 ° С.
Important! The strength of the tincture with alcohol and vodka is at least 35%, but the drink is drunk easily. Therefore, be careful about quantity so as not to drink too much.
It is believed that herbal formulations begin to gradually lose their taste a year after the start of storage. Therefore, such drinks are recommended to be consumed before the next harvest. For alcoholic beverages only a glass container is suitable. Alcohols can react with polymers - avoid plastic containers.
The advantages of home infusions are many. First of all, they are tasty, made from natural ingredients and, in addition, contain useful substances. And also liqueurs are simple to prepare. Therefore, if you have dogwood berries, try to make not only jam from them, but also tincture.
