The other day, representatives of Irish agriculture signed an agreement with Japanese importers. And now, the market for the Land of the Rising Sun is finally open for Irish lamb.
It is known that at the moment the government of Japan has already officially agreed an agreement on certified export of meat products from Ireland. All verification moments have been settled, and in the near future a real influx of previously unprecedented provisions will form on the Japanese counters.
It will not be superfluous to note that along with lamb, Irish beef received approval from the Japanese.
It is important to add that Irish farmers and meat producers are extremely pleased to have a chance to enter a new market, as selling agricultural products to Japan will be a significant help for Irish agricultural workers. This opinion was voiced by Michael Creed, head of the Department of Agriculture, Food and Marine Production of Ireland.
It should be emphasized that today Australia is considered the main supplier of lamb to the Japanese market. The share of Australian meat in total Japanese imports is over sixty percent.
Based on statistics, on average, every Japanese consumes no more than three hundred grams of lamb monthly. The forecast for consumption growth is no more than four hundred grams until 2022.
