In February, export companies of Ukraine slightly increased the sale of cucumbers abroad, if compared with January, but already in March the volume of sales of vegetables to other countries fell by 6 times at once, EastFruit analysts share information based on data from the Fiscal Service of Ukraine.

According to the SFS, while in February the export of cucumbers amounted to 262 tons, in March it fell to 43 tons. According to industry experts, this situation had a number of reasons.

EastFruit analyst Maria Lakeeva believes that the main reason was a limited selection of vegetables from Ukrainian greenhouses due to cloudy and cold weather. As a result of this, exporting companies were not able to collect sufficiently large batches of cucumbers for export supplies.

At that time, there was a shortage of cucumbers inside the country and traders were forced to block it with imported products from Poland, which actively made themselves felt in the last days of March. In late March and early April, the Ukrainian side purchased some volumes of vegetables in Poland, as there was a shortage of both local and Turkish products on the country's markets.

In the first quarter of 2019, export deliveries of cucumbers from Ukraine amounted to 526 tons, which is 3.6 times less than in the same period in 2018. Recall that in January-March of last year, Ukrainian merchants shipped 1.9 thousand tons to foreign markets. cucumbers.
