Rainy weather, established in most of Ukraine since the end of April, continues to prevent farmers from conducting field work.
So, before the rains, farmers in the Carpathian region managed to sow half of the projected 162 thousand ha with spring crops.
To date, Carpathian farmers were able to sow sunflower only 2/3 of the planned area, which is 16.7 thousand hectares, they sowed corn for 34 thousand. 4.7 thousand hectares were sown from more than 32 thousand hectares. allocated for the cultivation of this crop.Agricultural producers of the Carpathian region complain that because of the incessant rainfall they can’t even carve out at least a few fine days in order to enter the fields. This applies not only to the sowing campaign, but also to other field work.
Rains, strong winds and low air temperatures contributed to the spread of pathogens and the multiplication of pests in winter crops and rape. This is a serious threat to the future harvest.Earlier it was reported that agrarians of the western regions of Ukraine lost 20 to 50% of the strawberry crop due to frost. In neighboring Poland, where there were subzero temperatures for three nights in a row, almost the entire crop of this berry died.
