The fox, accidentally running into the territory of the village of Gorokhovskoye, in the Nikolaev region, cast a shadow not only on the entire Snigurovsky district, but also on the region as a whole.
Once in the village, a sick fox wandered between the houses. Unfortunately, one of the rural dogs turned out to be on the way of the rabid animal. The fox attacked the dog and bit him.
One of the residents of Gorokhovsky became a witness to this scene. He quickly orientated himself and shot a fox from a hunting rifle. Specialists took the corpse of a mad fox for examination. Part of her brain was subjected to laboratory research, and the fox itself was burnt and buried in the remains at an impressive depth of one and a half meters.
"Research of the biological material taken for analysis confirmed that the animal was infected with rabies," they say in the Nikolaev State Laboratory. “Fortunately, the fox did not contact people, but it is not known how many animals met on its way to the unfortunate dog.”
Today, animal regions are actively vaccinated against rabies. The Snigurovsky area is declared a quarantine zone of a stationary type. Note that in 2018, an attack by rabies animals was recorded three times in the region. Before the incident in Gorokhovsky, sick animals attacked healthy brethren in the city of Snegurovka and in the village of Kobzarytsy.
