Around Glukhov, in the Sumy region, work is ongoing to collect flax. This was announced by Michel Tereshchenko on his Facebook page, the former mayor of the city, who at one time, together with his Belgian partners, began in Ukraine the production of flax and hemp.
It should be noted that flax production in the country has recently decreased significantly. So, in 2018, 32.1 thousand hectares were allotted for the cultivation of oil flax, while in 2017 the crop occupied 47.1 thousand hectares. lands.
Accordingly, the crop decreased from 45.5 thousand tons in 2017 to 31 thousand tons in 2018. According to the forecasts of market participants, this year the production of flax in Ukraine will be approximately 24 thousand tons.
As for flax flax, according to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, in 2017, the area under this crop amounted to only 1.4 thousand hectares, while in the nineties they sowed more than 170 thousand areas.
Earlier it was reported that a flax mill will be erected in the Zhytomyr region. The head of the Regional State Administration Igor Gundich spoke about his imminent construction on the lands of the Zhytomyr region during a meeting of the local Regional Development Council.
It is interesting that flax has been cultivated since ancient times, but it was not possible to determine where this plant comes from.
