Initiators from the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation came up with a proposal to partially solve the problem of dependence on foreign breeding material in the poultry industry.
In particular, activists suggested that domestic scientists from the genetics and breeding industry create unique breeds of poultry that will supplant imported breeding individuals from Russian agriculture.
It is important to note that the Russian Ministry of Agriculture is ready to spend at least five billion rubles on the process of creating new generation chickens.
It is known that the initiative to create new breeds of domestic birds in the very near future may become part of the federal-level scientific and technical plan for the period until 2025. Thus, the development of new highly productive breeds of meat and obtaining high-quality broilers will be one of the priorities of Russian agricultural developers.
It is noteworthy that the breeding of new breeds is expected to be carried out by crossing several directions of meat breeds at once.
It will not be superfluous to note that chicken is the type of meat that is most popular among consumers of the Russian Federation. It should also be added that the share of poultry meat in the gross production of meat products in 2018 amounted to about forty-five percent.
It is interesting that annually the inhabitants of the Russian Federation consume on average about thirty-four kilograms of chicken per person.
