This week was marked for the EU countries by signing an agreement on the adoption of a whole package of measures aimed at supporting EU farmers affected by the drought this summer.
The members of the European Commission approved the implementation of processes designed to significantly alleviate the material difficulties that arose among the agrarians of European countries in connection with the dry weather that attacked the fields.
According to Phil Hogan, EU Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, agreed measures in particular should protect cattle breeders from lack of animal feed.
Thus, the system of providing advance payments to farmers for the purchase of feed will be changed. There will also be exemptions in the current landscaping requirements. In addition, the percentage of direct subsidies to European peasants provided for in the budget of the Common Agricultural Policy of the EU countries will be increased.
It is reported that the implementation of measures agreed by members of the European Commission will be formally adopted in early autumn of this year.
