Leading analysts of the German Union of Agricultural Entrepreneurs the other day significantly lowered the forecast for cereal production in Germany.
The decrease in the expected indicators is due to the fact that at the end of July 2019, as well as at the beginning of the current month, the dry weather had a negative impact on the country's agricultural expanses.
The merciless sun and high air temperature forced experts to reduce forecasts by nine hundred thousand tons. And now, the estimated wheat production this season is twenty-three million eight hundred and fifty thousand tons.
However, even such an indicator exceeds the volume of grain harvested in 2018 in Germany by more than seventeen and a half percent.
Analysts do not exclude that the total yield of winter barley in 2019 can reach four million one hundred thirty thousand tons, which is almost twenty-four percent more than last year's crop.
Nevertheless, it should be added that experts can reduce these forecasts in the very near future for barley and other cereals due to the impending period of another drought.
