Novosibirsk researchers made an unprecedented discovery. In their opinion, chicken eggs are endowed with the unique ability to accumulate antibodies in themselves that can neutralize the dangerous African Ebola virus.
Developments in this direction were carried out on the basis of the Novosibirsk Center for Virology. Experts emphasize that the eggs of chickens are able to retain antibodies that neutralize not only Ebola, but also Marburg fever. Both pathogen viruses can kill hundreds of thousands of people, proving their potential more than once with large-scale epidemics.
“The immune system of chickens is built in a special way. Antibodies accumulate in them not only in the composition of blood, but also in egg yolks, the researchers explain. - We managed to find a way to isolate antibodies from the yolks and looked at how effectively these antibodies suppress pseudoviral inclusions. The result was overwhelming! Antibodies from eggs have successfully dealt with pseudoviruses. ”

“We conducted experiments on chickens to check whether antibodies are formed in the yolks to fight pseudovirus. The result of the work gave hope that soon we will be able to find serious opposition aimed at combating exotic fevers. ”At the moment, Novosibirsk scientists are developing a special laboratory in which it will be possible to conduct development and effective experiments.
Recall that the first outbreak of Ebola was recorded half a century ago in the territory of the present Republic of Congo (Africa). As a result of the epidemic, thousands of Africans then died. A similar pathogen - Marburg fever - infected a lot of people around the planet in 1967. It was then that the infected monkeys from Uganda brought to Germany spread the virus among the inhabitants of Europe. One of the last large-scale outbreaks of Ebola arose at the end of 2013. It was then that the employees of Novosibirsk laboratories for the first time showed themselves as ardent fighters against a dangerous virus, having developed an effective vaccine to cure fever.
