Since the beginning of this year, livestock farmers in the Kherson region received 16 million UAH of subsidies for the maintenance of 11 thousand calves, but the number of cattle in the region decreased by 7.8%.
Farmers of the Kherson region massively slaughter cattle. And even current government support for the industry cannot stop this process.
Since the beginning of this year, the owners of individual peasant farms in the amount of 5054 people received 16 million UAH of subsidies for the maintenance of 11 thousand calves, the Department of Agro-Industrial Development of the Regional Administration and Administration reports.
But official statistics show a decrease in cattle by 7.8% compared to the previous year. And at the fastest pace (by 8.9%), the number of livestock is reduced precisely in the personal farms of the population.
Peasants explain the situation by the fact that state support in the form of subsidies for the maintenance of young animals only partially covers losses.
Feed and veterinary preparations for cows are in the zone of constant price increases, while the purchase prices for live weight meat and milk "do not keep pace with them." For this reason, cattle in the Kherson region is becoming smaller.
