The European Commission announced the creation this year of two new information resources aimed at monitoring the market of vegetables, fruits and wine - the so-called "Market Observatories."

“Market Observatories” are intended to provide greater market transparency and analysis of the fruit and vegetable and wine-making sectors of agriculture in the European Union. Together, Internet resources should provide about 30% of the total value of all agricultural products produced in the European Union. Moreover, the fruit and vegetable industry is allocated 24.1%, and the wine industry - 5.4% of the cost of production.
Based on the fact that the fruit and vegetable sector covers a very wide range of products, the observatory will focus on tomatoes, apples, citrus fruits, peaches and nectarines.
Both online access observatories will provide an extensive range of data, market analysis and short- and medium-term perspective reports.
“Market Observatories” are created by the European Commission to help the European agricultural sector to more effectively respond to market volatility and provide greater transparency.
It should be noted that in the European Union “Observatories of markets” for crops, sugar, meat and milk are already operating.
