Pastoralists and farmers of the North Caucasus began to supply their agricultural products to the Middle East markets much more intensively. We are talking about the export of grain, as well as sales abroad of live cattle.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, today Iran is considered the largest buyer of animals and grain from the North Caucasus.
So, over the past year, North Caucasian suppliers shipped more than five hundred thousand tons of grain products to Iranian purchasers. According to market analysts, earlier trade relations between the Russian regions and Iran have not yet reached such indicators.
As for livestock, it is known that today Iranian wholesale buyers purchase an average of four thousand cattle daily from suppliers from the North Caucasus. Such information was shared by Sergey Chebotaryov, head of the Ministry of the Russian Federation for North Caucasus Affairs, during a meeting with heads of administrations of various regions of the North Caucasus Federal District.
According to Chebotaryov, further trade relations with Iran will only strengthen, since Iranian consumers gladly accepted halal products from Russia into their diet. We are talking about mutton from North Caucasian producers, which meets the Halal Muslim standards.
And now the plans of Iranian purchasers are to bring the volume of imports from the North Caucasus Federal District to two hundred thousand sheep and rams per day. It is noteworthy that Kuwait, which is also in search of a reliable supplier of halal products, became interested in Iran’s trade relations with Russia.
