Stocks of pork and chicken in the US in October reached new all-time highs this month.
According to the US Department of Agriculture (USDA), as of October 31 this year, there were about 278,700 tons of pork in the cold stores. This is 2.6% more than in September, or 7.6% more than in October 2018, and more than ever since the start of statistical reports in 1916.
First of all, the number of chops exceeded 22.7% and stomachs (72.0%) were significantly higher than the previous year. The amount of ham and ribs was approximately at the level of the previous year.
At the end of October of this year, the American freezer was well filled with chicken. According to USDA, stocks exceeded September data by 4.3% and 432,400 tons, respectively, and 1.4% year on year.
