In 2018, prices for Russian gastronomy increased by five and a half percent. At the same time, the average increase in food prices in the EU countries amounted to only 1.3%.
According to market analysts, between December 2018 and January 2019, food prices in the Russian Federation increased by 2% compared to the previous month. The price of relevant goods in Europe rose by only half a percent.
“If we compare the current price increase with the situation in 2017, then we can say that now products in Russia are growing at a tremendous speed,” the experts are sure. “Indeed, two years ago, price hikes were much more active in the EU than in Russian stores.”
A significant increase in prices was demonstrated by meat products on the Russian market: they increased in price by almost 8%, while European meat in 2018 rose by only half a percent.
