As part of the International Economic Forum, which was held in St. Petersburg from June 6 to 8, 2019, it became known that advanced meat processing facilities in the Saratov region sent a trial supply of mutton to the state of Iran.
It is noteworthy that sheep’s meat was sent to Iranian buyers for testing so that they could get acquainted with the so-called halal products of Saratov’s butchers.
According to Valery Radaev, head of the Saratov regional administration, the sale of Russian mutton to Iran has great prospects. However, shipments in the conditions of intense summer heat can leave their mark, and products can arrive in Iran with great losses in quality.
Note that for those who practice the Muslim faith, the halal label means that the product complies with all the gastronomic traditions of Islam and does not contain ingredients that are prohibited for consumption by Muslims.
In particular, we are talking about the complete exclusion from the diet of pork, blood, etc. Halal food is considered a product of high quality and “spiritual origin”.
“A trial batch of halal meat, which is in great demand in the Gulf countries, went to Iran. And this process will help us understand whether it is profitable and advisable to develop this area. If it is not profitable, then we will completely limit ourselves to those export resources and existing customers that exist today, ”said Radaev.
It is noteworthy that the volumes of the trial batch are not specified.
