Thrive and stay home! Such an initiative was made in the village library in Hungary.
Environmental protection and environmental awareness can be taken into account even during this difficult period. April 22, Earth Day, everyone had a test: the main thing is that those who stay at home due to quarantine plant flowers, plants or trees. Every blade of grass will now be useful.
Peace activist John McConnell first proposed the idea of celebrating Earth Day in 1969 during a UNESCO conference in San Francisco.
“As library workers, in the current situation we are trying to find out events that can excite people, even if they are forced to stay in their homes. Also relevant thing: Earth Day. The essence of our task is to plant as many colorful plants in our house as possible, everything that helps to make our environment a little more beautiful. In this we can also pay attention to environmental protection and environmental awareness. ”- explains the author of the idea, Agnes Quinho, listing his aspirations.
He found followers, and residents of the Bekesh and Chongrad districts joined them. Moreover, libraries and librarians contacted them to help promote the initiative. They constantly receive uploaded photos of those who are involved in this initiative, from Celebia through Oroshkhaza to Mezikovacshasa.
Whoever joins and takes pictures of the landing, incoming images are collected by the library staff into an album on the institution’s community website.
